Spotify recently introduced audiobooks onto their platform, and their goal is to get Gen-Z listening. How do we do that? By caring about what they care about— mental health. We created a safe space for readers that is free of distractions.

Spotify’s branding is known for being bold, bright, and colorful.

The goal of Spotify Zen Mode is to step back from these bright colors, and enter a space that evokes the feeling of calmness, so that listeners can escape into the stories of their audiobooks.

“Escape Into an Audiobook”

Film Spot (00:30)

A girl is waiting for her subway on the platform as she's heading to school. The environment around her is full of chaos, hustle and bustle, and lots of loud noises. Her subway approaches and comes to a screeching halt. The doors chime and open as she steps on. She lets out a sigh of relief as she takes her seat and pulls out her phone.
*(The sounds of the city muffle as she puts on her headphones)*

She unlocks her phone, opens Spotify, and clicks Zen Mode. *(The environment around her goes silent and everything goes white)*

She scrolls through her library of books, clicks one, and hits play. *(As the narration of the book begins to play, the environment around her fills with aural gradients, and everything around her disappears)*

*Book audio continues to play, gradient fills the screen*

SUPER: Escape into an audiobook
